TH=36 degrees

5.The train starts with full of passengers. At the first station, it drops 1/3 rd of the passengers and takes 280 more. At the second station, it drops 1/2 of the new total and takes 12 more. On arriving at the third station, it is found to have 248 passengers. Find the number of passengers at the starting.

Ans.

First station scenario:
x - 1/3 x + 280 = 2/3 x + 280

Second station scenario
12 + 1/2 (2/3 x + 280) = 12 + 1/3 x + 140
                                     = 152 + 1/3 x

Third station scenario
248 = 152 + 1/3 x
1/3 x = 96
x = 288

6.Find compound interest on Rs. 8000 at 15% per annum for 2 years 4 months, compounded annually?

Ans.

7.The interest on a certain deposit at 4.5% p.a. is Rs. 405 in one year. How much will the additional interest in one year be on the same deposit at 5% p.a. ?

Ans.

S.I. = Rs. 405
R = 4.5%
T = 1 year
PRT/100=SI

Principal = (100 *405)/(4.5*1) =  Rs.9000
S.I at 5% interest = (9000*5*1)/100 = Rs.450
Difference in interest = 450 – 405 = Rs.45

8.A circular road runs round a circular ground. If the difference between the circumferences of the outer circle and inner circle is 66 metres, the width of the road is?

Ans.
2π(R-r)=60 => 2*22/7 * (R-r)=60.
Therefore, (R-r)= (66*7/44)= 10.5m

9.P can complete a work in 12 days working 8 hours a day.Q can complete the same work in 8 days working 10 hours a day. If both p and Q work together,working 8 hours a day,in how many days can they complete the work?

Ans.
12          10
       60              //  (lcm)
5              6        //  (60/5=5,60/10=6)

PER DAY WORK IS 5 UNITS + 6 UNITS = 11

60/11 IS THE TOTAL NUMBER OF DAYS THE WORK WOULD BE FINISHED

10.The avg weight of subbu , babu and chima is 80 kg. Kamla joins them and the avg wt of the four becomes 81 kg. If Ram whose wt is 2kg more than kamala replaces subbu, then the avg wt. of babu , chima, kamala and ram becomes 83 kg. Find the weight of subbu?

Ans.

kamala 81+3=84
ram=86

total @81=324
now @83=332
324-(332-86)=78

OR

From given prob
(a+b+c)=3*80=240  1st equaiton
(a+b+c+d)=81*4=324  2nd eqauiaton
now d's age is(Eq2-Eq1)
d=84
given (e-d)=2kgs
e=(2+84)=86 kgs
(b+c+d+e)=83*4 = 332
(b+c+d)==332-86 = 246

therefore a=324-246=78 kgs
alphabets must as a,b,c,d,e
